Funding and thesis offers

Regular doctoral contracts

A number of doctoral contracts are awarded by the University of Lyon each year to the E2M2 doctoral school. (there is also the possibility of obtaning an INSA doctoral contract)
These contracts are distributed by competition.

Doctoral contracts for disabled students

Lyon 1 University is inviting applications for doctoral contracts for disabled students. This concerns the awarding of doctoral contracts or the extension of doctoral contracts that are coming to an end (for a maximum of 12 additional months).
Applicants must compile a single PDF file containing the following items, which must be listed in this order:
 
• The application form 
• A curriculum vitae enabling an assessment of the relationship between the candidate's training and their thesis project. 
• The thesis project (maximum 4 pages, excluding bibliography) with a provisional three-year timetable – relevance and feasibility – statement of motivation. 
• A copy of the degree (master's or equivalent) enabling enrolment in a doctoral school.
• A copy of the corresponding transcripts. 
• Notification of the decision to grant recognition as a disabled worker from the departmental office for disabled persons (MDPH) or the MDPH receipt (complete file), specifying that the application is admissible and under review.
 
Applications must be sent to the doctoral school by  March 2026 at the latest to e2m2.codir@listes.univ-lyon1.fr.

ENS doctoral contracts (CDSN)

Candidates must send their application to a CDSN along with their location form, which must be signed by the doctoral school. An interview with the CPO is mandatory before any contract is signed.

Foundation for Medical Research (FRM) and FRM Béziat Prize

Every year, the Foundation for Medical Research organises a call for projects to fund around thirty three-year doctoral contracts.
In 2025, the FRM will award one contract to the ED E2M2.
Candidates must send their FRM application by email to e2m2.codir@listes.univ-lyon1.fr before X March 2026.

Other public or private funding

They are obtained by research units, their teams, and/or their researchers and teacher-researchers (e.g. CIFRE, ANR, etc.), independently of ministerial allocations.
